Assistive Technology for Reading

Article Description

Over 82 million people in the developed world face challenges each day when attempting to read a variety of printed materials. The Intel® Reader is the output of years of research into end-users who experience difficulty reading text for a variety of reasons. In this article, we first review the diverse end-user population for this technology, and we identify unique subpopulation requirements that were distilled into a set of common parameters. We explore many of the design challenges, tradeoffs, and unexpected discoveries that led us to the final definition for the Intel Reader. (Filetype/Size: PDF 477KB)
